Volunteering/Internship at the Suchitra Film Society

We offer exciting volunteering/internship opportunities to high school level onwards, young-old, student-working, on a break-retired and anybody else keenly interested in cinema, literature and Art event organising personal.

The nature of these volunteering opportunities could be:

  • Organising film screenings, discussion and facilitation

  • Social media outreach and networking

  • Cataloguing of Suchitra Film Society resources

  • Research

  • Fund raising

  • Illustration, Designing and Communication support

  • Updating and maintaining Suchitra Film Society website

  • Helping hand at festivals and other events

  • In-house visual documentation and short films

  • Filing or other coordination work that may be required within the team

Through the above opportunities, we focus on consciousness raising, knowledge and skill building in our volunteers so that the experience adds to their personal and professional capabilities. Our volunteers get the opportunity to deeply understand development of cinema in a space that allows for creative learning pursuits, working independently, learning new skills, gaining networking opportunities with peer organisations and events in the city, apart from a volunteer certificate upon successful completion of assigned tasks.


Internships with the Suchitra Film Society

We offer a structured three-month internship programme designed to provide exposure to diverse threads of development thought and human rights action. This would be planned around one or more of our programmes or initiatives.


What we look for in you?

  • the capacity for hard work, learning, listening and taking initiative in different arenas of work in the Suchitra Film Society team.

  • an ability to do manual, administrative and often monotonous work along with intellectually stimulating and creative work.

  • an academic background in development studies, management, economics, art design or communication, etc.

  • keen interest and willingness to learn and contribute to processes of social change.

  • knowledge and ability to work on the computer

  • command over written and spoken English, working knowledge of a regional Indian language is an added advantage.

We would require from you (at least two of the following):

  • an expression of interest in working with us, identifying why you would like to volunteer with us, and for how long.

  • a brief profile of your personal/ other interests and qualifications

All volunteers and interns get certificates upon submission of a short experience note from you. No stipends are offered, however, some local expenses may be covered as per resource availability. Many of our former volunteers and interns have received recommendation letters for further studies or jobs and some have also worked with us formally.
